e-cigcompare.com is an e-cigarette review website that focuses on giving consumers up-to-date information and reviews on various brands of e-cigarettes and trends in the e-cigarette industry. Due to popular demand by visitors to this website, the webmasters recently added an e-cigarette savings calculator tool for consumers to use to see how much money can be saved by switching from tobacco cigarettes to electronic cigarettes.

e-CigCompare.com has recently added an electronic cigarette savings calculator to this popular electronic cigarette review website. Many visitors have asked repeatedly for a tool that can calculate the monthly or yearly savings that one would see by switching from using tobacco cigarettes to electronic cigarettes. We were hesitant at first to provide this type of information because tobacco cigarette prices vary greatly from one geographic location to another. Also, the price of electronic cigarettes can vary from one brand to the next. Nevertheless, the new savings calculator gives smokers a ballpark figure as to how much money can be saved by switching from tobacco cigarettes to e-cigarettes.

The e-cigarette savings calculator is geared towards smokers that currently smoke between 1/2 to 4 packs of tobacco cigarettes each day. The calculator tool also takes into account different prices for tobacco cigarettes because prices vary greatly from one geographic location to another and from one brand to another. Also, the calculator takes into account whether a consumer plans on using e-cigarettes to replace a percentage (25%, 50% or 75%) of their tobacco cigarette smoking or if they plan on replacing tobacco cigarettes with electronic cigarettes all together.

The e-cigarette savings calculator takes into account the price for electronic cigarette refill cartridges only, not the cost of an electronic cigarette starter kit. Also, many consumers don’t factor in other expenses, such as lighters, when considering how much is spent on a tobacco cigarette smoking habit. The savings calculator is really meant to give consumers a basic understanding of how much can be saved by making the switch to electronic cigarettes.

“The e-cigarette savings calculator is an exciting new addition to our review website. Several consumers wrote in requesting information on how much can be saved by switching from tobacco to e-cigarettes. Of course there are several variables that go into finding out a particular consumer’s savings when switching to e-cigarettes. e-cigCompare.com decided to offer a calculator that allows consumers to see what they could save by making the switch and tried to account for the variables that account for those savings. While the calculator may not take every variable into account, it is a great place for consumers to start to get a grasp on how money can be saved by making the switch to e-cigarettes.”

Consumers that are interested in using the e-cigarette savings calculator should go to http://www.e-CigCompare.com.

As Smoking Rates Rise, Electronic Cigarettes Offer Viable Alternative to Harmful Combustible Tobacco

The Electronic Cigarette Association (ECA) today urged decision-makers to seek alternatives to combustible tobacco that reduce Americans’ exposure to the multitude of harmful chemicals and toxins found in cigarettes. Remarks came in response to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study released last week showing that smoking rates among U.S. adults have risen for the first time since 1994.

“We applaud the valiant campaigns designed to encourage people to quit smoking and urge that federal, state, and local governments continue to warn people about this unhealthy and deadly habit,” said ECA President Matt Salmon. “However, we also believe, given the CDC data, that harm-reduction strategies are desperately needed to reduce smokers’ exposure to the thousands of harmful chemicals and toxins that are delivered through combustible cigarettes.”

Salmon said that electronic cigarettes, battery-operated products that deliver an inhalable nicotine vapor, offer a viable and much-needed alternative to combustible tobacco. More than one million Americans have tried electronic cigarettes since they became available in the United States in 2007. Many use electronic cigarettes to avoid the toxins of combustible cigarettes and to protect nonsmokers from inhaling secondhand smoke, which is known to cause cancer, heart disease, and other health problems.

“According to the report, 46 million Americans smoke, costing the nation $96 billion in annual health care costs,” said Salmon. “More than 400,000 people die every year as a result of their exposure to the toxins found in cigarettes. If we are unable to reduce the number of people who quit, surely we should look for alternatives that will at least lower the number of people who die each year from this harmful habit.”

Quitting With Electronic Cigarettes: New Study Proves 45% Success Rate

A recently completed medical study conducted in South Africa shows an impressive 45% success rate when using electronic cigarettes as a smoking cessation tool.

In the first government controlled official study of the electronic cigarette’s effectiveness as a smoking cessation aid e-cigs show an impressive 45% success rate. The study, conducted in South Africa, consisted of 349 smokers. At the conclusion of the two month study 45% of those participating had successfully quit smoking.

All the doctors that participated in the study agree that electronic cigarettes are a significantly healthier alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes. The study showed that 6% of participating smokers quit within two weeks with an increase to 45% over 8 weeks. Over half of the participants reported increased energy levels and a visual improvement in their appearance.

Overwhelming support from the medical community that participated in the study includes that of Dr Clifford Hulley, who reported that “an e-cigarette is the most effective treatment method on the market for quitting tobacco smoking”. Prof Martin Veller, Head Vascular Surgeon at the University of the Witwatersrand, added “Motivated by my wife’s experience, who smoked traditional cigarettes heavily until the moment she replaced them with electronic cigarettes, I have advised my patients to consider electronic cigarettes as an alternative nicotine source.”

According to Dr Kishore Deva, a Pretoria doctor who quit smoking using electronic cigarettes over a six week period, “around 10 to 15 e-cig puffs are equivalent to the same amount of nicotine delivered by a tobacco cigarette”. He added that the nicotine, present in e-cigarettes, is not responsible for the health risks that tobacco cigarettes hold.

Earlier this year another study was carried out by Health New Zealand to determine the safety of electronic cigarettes. According to the head of research Dr Murray Laugeson, the test found that electronic cigarettes were not only very safe relative to cigarettes, but that they are also safe in absolute terms on all measurements.

“Using micro-electronics, an e-cigrarette vaporises, separately for each puff, very small quantities of nicotine dissolved in propylene glycol, two small well-known molecules with excellent safety profiles, into a fine aerosol. Each puff contains one third to one half the nicotine in a tobacco cigarette’s puff. The cartridge liquid is tobacco-free and no combustion occurs.”

Electronic Cigarettes: What the FDA does not want you to know.

With almost half a million smoking related deaths a year in the US alone why is the FDA trying to ban the electronic cigarette, a device that could save millions of lives?

Every year approximately 440,000 people die from smoking and its related diseasesin the US alone. Big tobacco and the pharmaceutical companies make billions of dollars a year profiting from nicotine addicts. The government makes billions a year taxing cigarettes, then spends trillions on a failing healthcare system to try and treat the resulting diseases.

A new product has emerged that has helped thousands quit smoking, save money, and live a healthier lifestyle, the Electronic Cigarette. For the last five years thousands of smokers have made the switch to these devices that produce a nicotine laden water vapor with none of the determents of inhaling smoke. No carcinogens, no smell, no second hand smoke, no heart disease, no cancer.

The FDA’s fear mongering regarding electronic cigarettes is completely unfounded. In a press release the FDA stated that propylene glycol, the primary ingredient in electronic cigarettes, is also found in antifreeze. Well guess what? Water is also found in antifreeze, if they issued a statement saying water may be dangerous because it is in ingredient found in antifreeze how would the American public react?

This warning that electronic cigarettes “may” be dangerous has no scientific backing and is based on unfounded fears and untested assumptions. What the FDA failed to mention is that propylene glycol (PG) is not only found in electronic cigarettes and antifreeze, it is also found in toothpaste, mouthwash, hand creams, food coloring, inhaled medicines, and many other products we use daily. In fact PG has been designated GRAS (generally recognized as safe) by the FDA for use as a direct food additive for years.

It is time to stand up to the FDA and let them know that the American public wants access to electronic cigarettes regardless of the cost to big tobacco, pharmaceutical companies and government tax loses. It is really very simple, electronic cigarettes are an inexpensive product that saves lives. Write you local politicians and let them know how you feel about this issue today.

Electronic cigarettes provide a safer alternative to traditional cigarettes that will save money and lives. A ban on electronic cigarettes will force the public to choose between deadly tobacco and the current smoking cessation products that have less than a 5% long term success rate.

Found this article this morning, go e-cigs go!

Inhalation of vaporized propylene glycol, the primary ingredient in the electronic cigarette cartridge, may prevent pneumonia, influenza, and other respiratory diseases. These findings are based on a recently re-discovered study conducted by Dr. Oswald Hope Robertson of the University of Chicago’s Billings Hospital in 1942 on inhalation of vaporized propylene glycol in laboratory mice.

Stamford, CT (PRWEB) November 2, 2009 — The ingredients in most electronic cigarette cartridges manufactured today include propylene glycol, nicotine, and a flavoring. The 1942 study by Dr. Oswald Hope Robertson of the University of Chicago’s Billings Hospital showed that Propylene glycol, the most prevalent ingredient in electronic cigarette cartridges, was found to possibly prevent pneumonia, influenza, and other respiratory diseases when vaporized and inhaled.

Additional studies in monkeys and other animals were undertaken to determine long-term effects, especially the potential for accumulation in the lungs. After a few months of treatment, no ill effects were discovered.

Smokers can enjoy all the engrained habits of smoking; hand-to-mouth, throat hit, visual smoke, nicotine delivery, with none of the negative effects of inhaling the dangerous smoke

Now the electronic cigarette may not only help individuals to reduce and quit smoking regular cigarettes, but it also may help to prevent some of the respiratory diseases caused by the harmful “cancer sticks”. Additionally with the pandemic H1N1 influenza virus expected to cause a record number of deaths this season there is no better time for smokers to cut back or quit with the aid of the electronic cigarette.

Electronic cigarettes are a relatively new tool in the battle against cigarette smoking. A smoker can enjoy all the engrained habits of smoking; hand-to-mouth, throat hit, visual smoke, nicotine delivery, etc… with none of the negative effects of inhaling the dangerous smoke and 4000+ toxic chemicals created by smoking regular cigarettes.

While using electronic cigarettes as a smoking cessation device/method has not yet been evaluated by the FDA, several quit smoking non-profit organizations, like Action on Smoking and Health UK (ASH) an international antismoking & nonsmokers’ rights organization have all but endorsed electronic cigarettes as a healthy and viable alternative to smoking.
