Whew, what a crazy wedding weekend; and I got through it, had a great time, and not a single smoke!

This also gave me the opportunity to try out my electric smoke at some public venues where smoking is generally banned. My first good test was Friday, the night of the rehearsal dinner. A few friends and I met at the hotel bar in the Hilton where we were all staying so we could drive to the rehearsal together. All Hilton hotels are now 100% smoke free. With just a few of us at the bar the bar tender had no problem listening in while I explained my vapor cigarette to my buddies, all of whom tried it. The bar tender did not say a word about it, and I puffed happily away at the bar while my buddies went outside in shifts to smoke.

Saturday was the wedding and the reception after was at a famous old Inn, also with a strict non-smoking policy. We were all sitting at our table awaiting our turn to eat when a waitress came up and informed me that this was a no smoking establishment and I would have to go outside. I smiled and explained the Green Smoke to her, it seemed as though she did not believe me. My buddies chimed in and helped explain, and after I took a few more pulls from the electronic cigarette she finally conceded that it was not a real smoke and I was ok to continue.

All in all it was a great weekend, I did not have a single regular cigarette while people smoked all around me the entire time. Last night was defiantly a good first test for me, and the score is Green Smokes 1, regular smokes 0.

My wife and I went to my sister’s place for my niece’s birthday. Traditionally my sister and I would sneak off behind the house where the kids could not see us and smoke. Not this time J I could easily sneak a puff or two in the kitchen with no smell and no worries. My brother-in-law first saw me exhale and asked “What are you doing!?” seeing me smoke in his kitchen. The real test came next. On our way home we decided to swing by my wife’s friend’s house, she was having a BBQ and we were going to stop by for “1 drink”.

There were 8 other people there, all smokers! It defiantly took a lot of pulls on my electric cigarette, which did not leave my hand the whole time there, but I did not have a smoke the entire night.

A few of our friends were interested in the e-smoke, and one had even tried a different brand in the past. He complained about the multiple pieces and having to drip the fluid in. So far so good, it’s been over 24 hours since my last regular cigarette. I estimate I’m about half way through my third full charge on the battery, and I’m on my second nicotine cartridge.

The first cartridge I used was tobacco flavored and “high” nicotine (~16mg), the taste was actually more “tobacco” like then I am used to with my light cigarettes, but it was quite satisfying. I have another tobacco flavor variant called “tobacco mal” that I have not tried yet, it is supposed to be “less sweet”.

For the second cartridge I put in this morning I could not resist trying the chocolate flavor in medium nicotine (~8mg). It’s really very good. It’s not the overpowering chocolate flavor I thought it would be. When my wife and I were on our honeymoon last year we had the opportunity to try a flavored tobacco called “shisha” that is smoked out of a hookah. The chocolate electronic cigarette has the same type of flavor, more like good tobacco with a hint of chocolate. I really like it, and look forward to trying the apple later.

Now on to how the e-cigarette smokes, please keep in mind these are my first impressions…

One of the reasons I chose the Green Smoke is because several people had called it a “vapor monster” online. They were not kidding. With a new battery and cartridge the feeling is very realistic with a decent “throat kick” and plenty of smoke (water vapor) to blow. I actually think it is easier to blow smoke rings with water vapor than with real smoke.

As the battery and cartridge loose there juice I have found that giving a short pull, waiting a couple seconds, and then giving a long pull really helps keep the vapor level very high. You are essentially running the process twice, so it can even produce a stronger hit than when you have a new batt and cartridge.

Anyway, so far I am very happy with the choice to give this a whirl. I’m going to my nieces birthday party tonight at my sisters place. My sister is also a long time smoker, I’ll let you know what she thinks of the Green Smoke tomorrow….

That’s what I texted to my wife after the first couple pulls on my new Green Smoke e-cigarette. More on that latter, first here is what I got:

The quality of the items and packaging is high and the batteries came with at least some charge so I was able to start vaping right away. I really think this may work for me, it smokes well, and has everything I want in a smoke and nothing I don’t want.

Below is a shot of one of the cartridge refill 5 packs, this one is Apple flavored and medium strength. The first cartridge I started this morning was a tobacco flavored high strength cartridge because I think that’s what I will need to try to jump off the real smokes. I’ll have to try the apple and chocolate flavors I got later.

The membership card is interesting to me and I’m glad it’s in the box. As electronic cigarettes are not exactly main stream yet I wonder what will happen when I use my e-smoke in traditional “non-smoking” areas. I guess we will have to wait and see. If I do get confronted for “smoking” my green smoke in a non-smoking area I defiantly will not hesitate to break out this card. Its material and size resemble a credit card, and I’m hoping it will do the trick at restaurants, bars, and other venues where no smoking rules are in effect.

I want to come up with a way to keep track of my time off traditional smokes on the site. As I had my last five smokes from an open pack this morning before the Green Smoke arrived we will call today day zero. I’ll keep track of my progress at the top of each post with something like what is below. More tomorrow…

I’m sitting in my office smoking and get the email from Green Smoke that my order has shipped. I went with FedEx shipping, so it should be here tomorrow.

Last night I talked with my wife about my decision to try Green Smoke. She is an occasional “social smoker” and does not have a huge desire to quit right now. Needless to say she is excited about me trying it. She is defiantly concerned about my health, and we are thinking about starting a family one of these days. She smokes menthols and I will probably order some mint cartridges down the road for her to try.
